Build It Up East Tennessee's Mission Statement is: To improve the health of our community and economy and help preserve our region's cultural heritage through the promotion of local, sustainably grown food. We aim to provide producers with greater access to markets and resources and to provide consumers greater access to affordable, nutritious food twelve months a year.
We are currently working on several great projects. For more information, please visit our current projects page! Pictured here: community members breaking ground at our Tree Streets Food Forest first planting.
Each summer, Build-It-Up East Tennessee hosts a "Summer of Solutions" program, where interns collaborate on projects that will help build accessible markets for producers and accessible, nutritious food for consumers. This past summer, interns helped build several community gardens in the Johnson City area, hosted several workshops related to sustainable food production and preservation, and also built coalitions and connections with local organizations.
